CITY OF CULTURE BID WINDOW DESIGN FOR PAISLEY 2021 @ INCUBE POP UP STORE, PAISLEY NOVEMBER 2015
Last month Paisley launched it's bid for City of Culture Status for 2021 at a glittering ceremony in the historic town Abbey. As a freelance designer, there are some projects that really excite you, and this was one. Renfrewshire council have this amazing Initiative for local designers offering studio space, mentorship, business guidance and support all housed in the Incube Design Hub in the centre of Paisley. They opened a fantastic pop up store in November too, in which I consulted on parts of the design, and the team had me return to design their window and merchandising concepts at the store. Here is the design for the bid launch, my concept from taking Paisley's rich textile heritage and weaving the new design life into the centre of the town for everyone to see. So the sewing machine represents the old methods creating new Paisley talent. Here is a look of the highlights, all work designed and installed by Carla Jones.
'BAGS OF REASONS' CONCEPT WINDOW FOR CATH KIDSTON AUTUMN 2015
As a freelance designer, I am so proud to be part of the super talented Store Design & Visual Team at Cath Kidston on some of their projects. Their latest window campaign, Bags of Reasons is a concept based around gameshows and guilty pleasures! It was a pleasure to be asked to draw up initial ideas the team had, and be part of the development design process. Here are some of my (many!) drawings which developed the team to bring their amazing finished results. Pretty great that it's in every window where there is a Cath Kidston store! Here are a selection of my development drawings, with the store version of the campaign in the Glasgow window and a look at one of the Flagship windows in London!
INTERIOR DESIGN, MERCHANDISING & STYLING 'THE FURNITURE POP UP' SHOW @ THE BRIGGAIT, GLASGOW, 4th & 5th JULY 2015
I consulted with the show's producer's for some months on many design aspects in lead up to prep for the weekend event to bring together over 25 makers & designers from Scotland to showcase their designs in specially designed room pods. Working with furniture makers, textile designers, artists and fashion designers I worked with all their creations to design and plan the 'Rooms' - A living Room, A Dining Space, A Bedroom space and A Fashion pod. I also designed an outdoor space alongside a study space for the event too. Styling and Merchandising the event was an essential part of the brief as everything was for sale to the public, and wanted to create a great visual retail feast for the eye in bringing together different styles, shapes, and designs for everyone to enjoy shopping on the days.
