Christmas Trees!

I've read over the last few weeks a good few articles around Christmas Trees and how to style them. Yes it's great inspiration but unless you have the budget for these types of winter wonderlands at home - it's then quite hard to take that look to your own living room using what you already have. If you have a few pounds spare - then what's the must have's or colours? It can be a bit overwhelming.

The pressure to show your tree on social media is also a very daunting aspect. What if no one likes your post? or if it looks not that great in certain lights on camera? or if the dog jumps in to the pic? Alot of people have asked 'Can't wait to see your tree!' or 'come on, show us pics of your tree' - it weighs a lot for more folk but for an Interior Stylist even more so. I've yet to show any pics our tree on social media so I thought I will show you all first.

I LOVE a bargain as we know, but is it just me or is Christmas decorations quite expensive to buy these days? I know you can pick up 3 for 2 deals from amazing high street retailers but if like me, you have a whole new tree to buy for - you can just see costs mounting up.

I've never actually owned a Christmas Tree for several reasons but this year being my 1st married one, I really wanted one for our home. I didn't want a real tree for fear our cat would eat it like it was an all you can eat buffet so I looked online for good deals for artificial ones. I wanted a tall, slim tree - these are still a bit under the radar due to the look of them but I knew it would fit great with the look of our living room. Tesco had a few greats ones online in the sale so I opted for a 6 foot 5 slim green artificial one costing just £20. Brilliant. Once assembled I was thrilled so now comes the exciting bit to decorate!!

There is absolutely no shame in shopping in bargain places for Christmas decorations. There I said it. For lights, baubles and decorations would be a fortune if I went on the high street so where was the first place I went? Primark. Their selection was really good - merchandised in good stories and brilliant prices so I found gorgeous wire silver garlands with little stars on for just £1 per pack. I bought 3 with the idea of using them wrapped around the tree. Next stop - Sainburys Christmas section. All decorations at this point had a third off so I was in heaven. I bought 2 big boxes of small metallic baubles (come on, of course Im having a theme tree! metallics!) and a pack of glittery acorns (have a serious scandi vibe happening at home) all for £9. I needed some new lights for the tree so I was astounded at the prices in some places so I checked my local pound stretcher....got a great set of 100 white lights for the tree for £4 - bargain! While I was there I spied some gorgeous blue beading which I knew would be so stylish with the garlands so I purchased 2 boxes for £2. I didn't want to overly decorate the tree, so I was happy with what I had until I realised I had nothing for the top! I found this amazing glass topper in M&S which I had to buy as my mum had almost the identical one in the 80s when we were little so I saw it as a good sign to get it, and at just £9 I splashed out to finish the look.

So for about £40 altogether we got a look that even I was so so happy with. Have a look, I wanted to show you don't need to spend hundreds of pounds on a complete tree to get a beautiful, stylish look. Don't be afraid to pop into bargain shops for basics like beading and you can also customise cheap baubles but adding new bows or embellishments if you are crafty.

So what do you think? One of my friends got her tree decorations from Matalan - so where else should we praise for great decorations at a great price? ? let me know! #baublebargain
